The wedding boom of 2022 is upon us! We believe to our core that it is our job to help educate and prepare couples in any way we can. Quintessential Events owner, Sarah Quinlivan, was recently interviewed Kansas City’s KSHB 41 News station on why this year is so jam-packed, and what couples should expect when planning their wedding.

“We took two years of events that should have happened. They had nowhere to go so a lot of them ended up landing into 2022.”

The Wedding Report estimates 2.47 million weddings will take place in 2022, up from 1.93 million in 2021. Weddings will now cost couples an average of $22,300, an increase of more than 10%. This is related not only to demand, but also the continuing supply chain issues.

The best thing for couples looking to get married in the near future is to be patient, understanding and to go in with realistic expectations.

“Be flexible, be prepared to pay more, and you need to plan as soon as humanly possible,” Quinlivan said.

The majority of industry vendors are booked up through the year 2022 and booking well into 2023. Quinlivan advised that Kansas City’s most popular wedding months are September and October due to the weather.
